Back-to-School with Oils

Focus, Germs & Big Feelings — Naturally Supported

It’s that time of year again.

Backpacks are packed, lunchboxes are labeled, and mamas everywhere are praying their kids stay healthy, focused, and emotionally steady as they head back to school. Whether you’re sending your little one to kindergarten or your big kid off to middle school, this season comes with all the emotions—and a lot of germs.

Here’s how I use essential oils to support my kids (and myself!) during the back-to-school transition—and how you can, too.

🧠 For Focus: The Brain Oils

Getting kids to sit still, pay attention, and stay on task can feel like a miracle some days—especially after summer. Here are our go-to oils to help support mental clarity and focus, especially in the classroom:

🌿 GeneYus

  • Part of the KidScents line (pre-diluted and safe for littles)

  • Helps with memory, concentration, and mental clarity

  • Great for before school or homework time

💡 How we use it:
Roll on the back of the neck and temples in the morning. I also put a dab on my son’s wrists and send it in his backpack just in case.

🌿 Peppermint + Lemon

  • Peppermint wakes up the brain

  • Lemon promotes clarity and lifts mental fog

💡 Mama tip:
Diffuse this combo during morning breakfast or homeschool to help everyone start the day fresh and alert.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 2:5

🦠 For Germs: The Immune Support Oils

Let’s be real. Once your kid walks into a classroom, it’s open season for every cough, sneeze, and mystery germ floating around. But thank God we have oils that help support the immune system instead of just reacting after the fact.

🌿 Thieves

  • Cleansing, immune-boosting powerhouse

  • Loaded with cinnamon, clove, rosemary, eucalyptus, and lemon

  • Scientifically studied for its antimicrobial properties

💡 How we use it:
Roll diluted Thieves on the bottoms of feet before school and at bedtime. I also diffuse it daily in the living room and use the cleaner version on doorknobs and lunchboxes.

🌿 KidScents MightyPro (probiotic)

Okay, not an oil—but this little sachet is worth gold. Your immune system starts in your gut, and this kid-friendly probiotic + prebiotic keeps things balanced from the inside out.

💛 For Emotions: The Heart Oils

Back-to-school can stir up big feelings—anxiety, fear, excitement, overstimulation, social stress, and separation. Oils can’t parent for us, but they can absolutely support our kids emotionally as they adjust.

🌿 KidPower

  • Think: kid-safe Valor

  • For courage, confidence, and emotional grounding

  • Smells like an orange creamsicle (kids love it!)

💡 How we use it:
Roll over the heart, wrists, and back of neck. We use this one in the carline before drop-off. It’s a hug in a bottle.

🌿 Peace & Calming or Lavender

  • Soothing to the nervous system

  • Calms the chaos of early mornings and after-school transitions

💡 Mama tip:
Diffuse Peace & Calming while packing lunches or use Lavender in a bedtime roller to wind down after a long day.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.” – Isaiah 26:3

🏡 Bonus: Oils for Mama

Let’s not forget you. You’re managing schedules, emotions, and germs too.

Here’s my mama trio for back-to-school sanity:

  • Stress Away – for the morning rush

  • Valor – for emotional grounding and grace under pressure

  • Clarity – for your own mental sharpness when your brain is juggling 37 tabs

✨ Final Thoughts

Whether your school year is starting smoothly or feels like a train wreck in motion, you’re not alone. Oils won’t make everything perfect—but they will give you tools to support your child’s body, brain, and heart in a powerful, natural way.

Start with just one. Apply it daily. Watch what shifts.

And if you’re ready to grab the oils mentioned in this post, message me—I’ll help you grab the right starter bundle and walk you through how to use them every step of the way.
